The highly anticipated first knockout round of Euro 2024 will see Germany and Denmark go head-to-head at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund on Sunday, June 30th (12:30 AM IST). This crucial match will be officiated by Michael Oliver from England, a well-respected referee with extensive experience in major international tournaments.
Oliver is a prominent figure in the Premier League refereeing scene, having earned his FIFA badge back in 2012, allowing him to officiate in prestigious international matches. His impressive resume includes taking charge of the final of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup and a promotion to the UEFA Elite Group of Referees in 2018.
In a FIFA announcement made in May 2022, Oliver was selected as one of six English officials to officiate matches at the World Cup held in November and December of the same year. He also served as the referee for the 2022 UEFA Super Cup clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Real Madrid on August 10th.
Joining Oliver on the officiating team are his fellow countrymen Stuart Burt and Dan Cook as assistant referees. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) role will be filled by Poland’s Stuart Attwell. Completing the officiating lineup is Irfan Peljto from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who will serve as the fourth official.
With such a high-profile refereeing team in place, the Germany-Denmark match promises to be an intense and exciting encounter. Both teams will be looking to secure victory and advance to the next round of the tournament.
