European Championships of Gullscreeching Draws Crowds in Belgium

The European Championships of Gullscreeching, now in its fourth year, attracted a diverse crowd of competitors and spectators to De Panne, Belgium, on April 21st. Participants from England, Sweden, France, and other countries displayed their impressive seagull screeching skills, often adorned in elaborate costumes. The event, which has gained popularity over the years, showcased not only the participants’ vocal abilities but also their understanding of gull behavior.

Competitors were judged based on both the authenticity of their screech and their ability to emulate the mannerisms of seagulls. The event organizer emphasized that these factors played a crucial role in determining the winners. The senior category title went to a Portuguese scientist, while the junior category was dominated by a nine-year-old competitor from the UK named Cooper Wallace. Cooper’s winning performance included a dramatic lunge at some fries held by his sister, adding an element of theatrics to his already impressive screeching abilities.
