Evari, a company pioneering advancements in heating and cooling technologies, is thrilled to announce it has been selected as an awardee under the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Energy Efficiency Frontiers & Innovation Technologies (BENEFIT2024) program. This prestigious award comes with a substantial $1.7 million grant, bolstering Evari’s mission to develop its next-generation turbocompressor technology for ultra-high efficiency heat pumps.
The Department of Energy’s recognition underscores the transformative potential of Evari’s solution. Buildings are the largest consumers of energy in the United States, accounting for 75% of the nation’s electricity and 40% of its total energy consumption. Evari’s technology tackles the limitations of traditional heat pump compressors, particularly in cold climates. Their innovative approach will enable heat pumps to provide whole-home heating even in temperatures below -40°F, while simultaneously reducing operating costs compared to fossil fuel heating systems. Furthermore, Evari’s technology utilizes refrigerants with no global warming potential, contributing to a more sustainable future.
Evari’s turbocompressor technology is a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and its collaboration with Creare, a pioneer in turbomachinery for over 63 years. Creare’s expertise in miniature high-speed turbocompressors has been a cornerstone of Evari’s research and development efforts.
The Department of Energy grant, coupled with a recent $7.5 million financing round led by Clean Energy Ventures, signifies strong confidence in the viability and promise of Evari’s solution.
