In the year 2000, Everclear set out to achieve something ambitious. Following the success of their 1997 hit record, ‘So Much For The Afterglow,’ the band decided to release a double album titled ‘Songs From An American Movie’ that would showcase their sonic adventurousness. The rollout of the record, however, led to sluggish sales. Volume 1 was released in July, while Volume 2 followed just four months later in November.
A quarter of a century later, Art Alexakis and the rest of Everclear have decided to dust off ‘Songs From An American Movie’ and take it on the road, along with fellow ’90s icons Marcy Playground and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack. The tour will make stops at The Paramount in Huntington, NY on October 6th and Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, NJ on October 11th.
‘Join us as we celebrate 25 years of ‘Songs from an American Movie’, which we’ll be putting out on vinyl for the first time ever later this year,’ Everclear announced on Instagram. ‘A lot of these songs we haven’t played in a while or, in some cases, we’ve never played live before. We’ll of course be playing the hits and fan favorites too.’
While tickets are not yet available on Ticketmaster, fans eager to secure their seats can purchase them on platforms like Vivid Seats before the official on-sale date. Vivid Seats operates as a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may vary from the face value according to demand. The platform offers a 100% buyer guarantee, ensuring that transactions are secure and tickets will be delivered before the event.

*Shows scheduled between May and August are not officially part of the ‘Soundtrack From An American Movie Tour.’ All concerts highlighted in bold from September through November are part of the recently announced tour.
As mentioned earlier, ‘Soundtrack From An American Movie’ is a double album, with two distinct parts. The initial installment, ‘Learning How To Smile,’ consists of 14 tracks and boasts several notable hits for the group, including the upbeat ‘AM Radio’ and their rendition of Van Morrison’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl.’ Our recommendation is to give the poignant title track, ‘Learning How To Smile,’ a listen; its lively instrumentation and romantic lyrics about leaving and running away are sure to soften even the most skeptical hearts. Other standout tracks include the hard-rocking ‘Now That It’s Over’ and ‘Unemployed Boyfriend.’
The second album, titled ‘Good Time For A Bad Attitude,’ features 12 songs and is characterized by its catchy, radio-friendly sound. Tracks like ‘When It All Goes Wrong Again,’ ‘Rock Star,’ and ‘Short Blonde Hair’ exemplify this approach. However, the album also offers a notable exception in the form of ‘The Good Witch Of The North,’ a folksy ballad that showcases Alexakis’s softer side as a singer-songwriter, venturing into soft pop territory.
