Ex-Zimbabwe Cricketer Guy Whitall Injured in Leopard Attack on His Safari Reserve

Former Zimbabwean cricketer Guy Whitall, who runs a safari business in Zimbabwe, found himself at the receiving end of a leopard attack while trekking through the conservancy he runs at Humani, Zimbabwe. Whitall, who played 46 Tests and 147 ODIs for Zimbabwe over a decade, has had previous encounters with wild animals. In 2013, he woke up to find an 8-foot-long crocodile beneath his bed at the Humani lodge. This recent leopard attack highlights the ever-present risks associated with working with and being around wild animals.

After the attack, Whitall was airlifted to Harare for emergency surgery. His wife, Hannah Stooks Whittall, shared the news of the incident on social media, expressing gratitude for the medical staff who treated him. She revealed that her husband had lost a significant amount of blood during the attack.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers involved in working with and being around wild animals. Despite his previous experience with wildlife, Whitall’s encounter with the leopard demonstrates the unpredictable nature of these animals and the importance of always being prepared for the unexpected when venturing into their territory.
