Exceptional Employees and Students Honored for Excellence

Oak Lawn Employees and Augustana Students Recognized for Exceptional Achievements

The Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 Board of Education recently honored four outstanding employees for their exceptional contributions to the school district. Art Teacher Jennifer Clark, Science/EL Teacher Stephanie Dominguez, Director of Buildings and Grounds Joe Giglio Jr., and School Counselor Tim Krupa were recognized for their dedication, commitment, and excellence in service. Board President Rob Loehr praised the recipients, stating that their unwavering dedication embodies the values and ethos of District 229.

Two Augustana College seniors, Grey White and Brianna Ebenroth, have been nominated for the college’s “More Than I Imagined” series. White, a business administration-management and theatre-musical theatre major from Mokena, has consistently excelled in both academic and extracurricular pursuits. Ebenroth, a psychology; sociology and anthropology double major from Frankfort, has demonstrated an exceptional ability to connect with others and share her knowledge. Both students have been recognized for their academic achievements and personal growth.

Father Perez Knights of Columbus Inducts New Members

The Father Perez Knights of Columbus Council 1444, based in Chicago’s Mount Greenwood neighborhood, recently inducted 15 new members into the order during ceremonies held at St. Christina School Hall on Palm Sunday. The new members include individuals from various parishes in the area, and they represent a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.

Local Students Engage in Research and Artistic Endeavors

Several students from the southwest suburbs have actively participated in research projects and artistic performances. Students from Lockport, Mokena, New Lenox, and Orland Park have conducted research projects at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, exploring topics ranging from scenic design to functional analysis of genes. Additionally, students from Lockport and New Lenox have been cast in Lewis University’s presentation of “Godspell,” a beloved musical. Furthermore, over 25 Augustana College students participated in the college’s OperX performance of “Amahl and the Night Visitors” in February, showcasing their musical talents.

Orland Park Student Accepts College Enrollment

Angelina Delise from Orland Park has been accepted into Palmer College of Chiropractic’s General Science, Bachelor of Science program for the 2024 spring trimester. Delise’s acceptance into the program is a testament to her academic achievements and her commitment to pursuing a career in chiropractic medicine.
