American fashion retailer Express Inc. recently announced its decision to file for bankruptcy. The company plans to close over 100 of its retail stores across the country.
Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Express has been struggling financially for some time. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the company’s challenges, leading to this difficult decision.
The bankruptcy filing was made in the District of Delaware. Express intends to close approximately 95 of its 530 Express stores and all 10 of its UpWest Express stores in the United States. Store closing sales are expected to begin on Tuesday.
Despite these closures, Express is committed to its customers and its omnichannel platform. The CEO, Steward Glendinning, emphasized that providing contemporary styles and value remains a top priority.
Express encourages its customers to continue shopping online and in its remaining stores. The company expresses its gratitude to its employees for their dedication and support, as well as its suppliers and business partners for their ongoing assistance.
