Fake NCC Camp in Tamil Nadu Leads to Assault and Harassment of Schoolgirls

A disturbing incident has come to light involving the alleged assault and harassment of schoolgirls at a fake National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp held at a private school in Tamil Nadu. The camp, organized from August 5th to 9th, saw the participation of 41 boys and girls.

According to a report by the Indian Express, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by Sivaraman, the district youth wing secretary of Naam Tamilar Katchi, a regional political group in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district. The report further states that eight individuals, including Sivaraman, have been arrested in connection with the case.

The alleged assault occurred during one of the night shifts at the camp. The victim, along with at least four other girls, reported that they were harassed by Sivaraman and other individuals. The school principal, Sathish Kumar, was informed about the incident by the girl, but no action was taken.

Following the publication of the report, the NCC issued a statement strongly denying any involvement in the camp or the alleged acts. They clarified that the individuals involved were not affiliated with the organization and that the NCC did not organize any camp in Krishnagiri District. The statement emphasized that the incident was a case of misinformation and obscuration of facts.

Sivaraman, who has been arrested by the police, is currently hospitalized due to injuries sustained during his arrest.

The incident has sparked outrage and highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety and security of children participating in such camps. It also underscores the need for thorough vetting of individuals involved in organizing and conducting such events.
