Fallout 4, the latest canon entry into the Fallout universe, has seen a significant increase in players following the success of Amazon’s Fallout TV show. The game has attracted over 64,755 concurrent players, peaking at 164,190 on Sunday, April 21. This is a substantial jump from the approximately 20,000 players who were playing the game before the TV show debuted.
While the game is receiving renewed interest, it is considered by many fans to be the weakest entry in the Fallout series. Players have expressed dissatisfaction with the voiced protagonist and writing, prompting many to rely on mods to tailor their experience. This practice is common among other Bethesda titles like Skyrim, where mods are used to enhance gameplay, graphics, and other aspects of the game.
Two of the trending mods on Fallout 4’s Nexus Mods page are inspired by the show, with one featuring Lucy icons and another adding a version of her character to the game. Other popular mods include the addition of a karma system, skills and perk overhauls, and visual enhancements.
In addition to driving traffic to mod sites, the Fallout show has also caused some music streams to double, as the series features many older songs, such as Sheldon Allman’s ‘Crawl Out Through The Fallout.’ Developer Todd Howard has also clarified some timeline confusion that was causing some fans of the game to speculate.
