The project lead of the highly anticipated Fallout London mod, Dean Carter, has expressed discontent over the lack of communication from Bethesda regarding their upcoming Fallout 4 update, which has impacted the mod’s development timeline.
In an interview with the BBC, Carter revealed that his team at Folon had no prior knowledge of the update’s release plans, resulting in an unforeseen delay for Fallout London. The team is now required to accommodate the substantial changes introduced by the official update, leading to a disruption in their development schedule.
A frustrated Carter highlighted the lack of communication between Bethesda and Folon, stating that a heads-up would have allowed them to prepare accordingly. The Fallout London mod has gained significant popularity and is considered one of the most anticipated releases for the franchise since the launch of Fallout 76 in 2018.
Initially scheduled for release on April 23, 2024, Fallout London’s release date now remains uncertain. Folon’s team is currently working to adjust their plans in light of the unexpected update. Bethesda’s update for Fallout 4 introduces various enhancements across multiple platforms, including stability improvements, framerate updates, quest fixes, and more. While fans eagerly await this official content, the lack of communication with Folon has resulted in disappointment for many.
Carter emphasized the importance of communication, stating that it enables developers to make necessary adjustments and manage expectations. He expressed a wish for better coordination between Bethesda and Folon to avoid similar situations in the future.
