In a heart-wrenching incident that occurred in Gopalganj district, a family’s joyous celebration turned into a tragedy when their SUV collided with a sand-laden parked truck on State Highway-90 near Khaira Azam village. The unfortunate incident, which took place around 2 am on Tuesday, claimed the lives of three members of the family, including a child, while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The family was returning from a tilak ceremony when their SUV met with the fatal accident. The impact of the collision was so severe that three individuals, identified as Reyansh Kumar (6), Suraj Ram (65), and Shankar Ram (30), succumbed to their injuries on the spot. Their bodies were subsequently sent to Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination.
Among the seven injured, the condition of two was deemed critical, and they were rushed to a hospital in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, for specialized treatment. The injured individuals included several children, who are currently undergoing medical care.
According to Rajiv Ranjan Singh, the SHO of Baikunthpur police station, the truck driver alerted the authorities about the accident around 2.30 am. The police promptly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The victims were identified as residents of Goriya Kothi in Chhapra.
The family had traveled to Chhapra to participate in the tilak ceremony of Ramakant Ram’s daughter, which was scheduled to take place in Siswa village. On Monday night, 10 members of the bride’s family had visited the groom’s house to perform the tilak ritual. While returning from the ceremony, their SUV collided with a parked truck.
This tragic accident has cast a dark shadow over the families involved and the community at large. The loss of loved ones in such a sudden and unexpected manner is a deeply distressing experience.
