Ferrari Set to Unveil Major Car Upgrades at Miami Grand Prix

Ferrari is set to introduce major car upgrades at the upcoming Miami Grand Prix, targeting improvements in both performance and aesthetics. The team is eager to provide its drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, with a competitive edge in the Sprint weekend format. Despite the usual preference for avoiding upgrades during Sprint weekends due to limited practice time, Ferrari believes the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Mercedes is also planning upgrades for their drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, in Miami.

According to Sky F1 commentator David Croft, the upgrades are expected to be ready for the Miami event. While introducing upgrades on a Sprint weekend is not ideal, Ferrari aims to perfect them for the subsequent Imola race. The team hopes to combine the upgraded car with a bold new livery featuring two shades of blue.

Leclerc believes the upgrades will have a significant impact on Ferrari’s performance. He emphasizes the importance of getting the updates right, as they will set the direction for the rest of the season. Hamilton, who will join Ferrari next season, will be closely monitoring the team’s progress as he aims to secure an eighth F1 title before retiring.

Since the start of the 2022 season, Mercedes has faced challenges in improving their car’s performance. Upgrades and developments have not brought them closer to challenging Red Bull, the current dominant force in the sport. Ferrari is their closest rival, but they remain unable to compete directly with Max Verstappen. The upgrades are seen as a step towards closing the gap and giving Leclerc and Sainz a better chance of success.

As Hamilton approaches the age of 40 and prepares for his move to Ferrari, he will be hoping that the team’s upgrades provide evidence that they can match or surpass Red Bull’s performance. The Miami Grand Prix will be a crucial test for Ferrari and a significant development in Hamilton’s preparations for his new chapter.
