Ferrari to Swap Iconic Red for Blue Livery at Miami Grand Prix in 70th Anniversary Celebration

Ferrari is set to make a striking departure from its iconic red livery at the upcoming Miami Grand Prix, scheduled for May 5. In a celebration of the team’s 70th anniversary in North America, the Prancing Horse cars will sport a fresh and unexpected blue livery. This one-off design change is a testament to Ferrari’s rich history and its enduring legacy in the world of motorsport.

Two distinct shades of blue, Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino, will grace the SF-24 cars driven by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. These colors have been carefully chosen to evoke significant moments in Ferrari’s past. Azzurro La Plata, a lighter blue hue, is reminiscent of the color worn by the legendary Alberto Ascari during his 1952 and 1953 Formula One world championship triumphs for Ferrari. Azzurro Dino, a darker blue shade, pays homage to the colors first adopted by Ferrari in 1974, when five-time Grand Prix winner Clay Rega donned the shade before the team returned to its iconic red.

The dual-color livery will be prominently displayed on the SF-24 cars as Leclerc and Sainz take to the track in Miami. The drivers will also wear light blue racing suits, adding to the visual impact of this special livery. While an official launch date for the car’s unveiling has yet to be announced, it is expected to be revealed in the lead-up to the Florida race.

Ferrari has also teased a collection of merchandise to accompany the livery change, featuring Leclerc and Sainz sporting the new colors. This bold move by Ferrari marks the first time the team has abandoned its red livery since 1964, when it briefly switched to a white and blue livery for the final two rounds of the championship. The Miami Grand Prix will provide a fitting stage for Ferrari to showcase its fresh and unexpected look, celebrating its enduring legacy and looking ahead to the future.
