Former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch has suggested that Virat Kohli should bat at the No. 3 position for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
Finch, while speaking to Star Sports, praised Kohli as one of the greatest white-ball players at the No. 3 position and believes he should continue in that role for the Indian team.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit could be so exploitative at the top of the order. I am not saying Virat can’t be. But I think he has been the best no. 3 that the game has ever seen in the white-ball format, so keep him where he belongs,” Finch said.
Kohli has been in excellent form in the ongoing IPL 2024, opening the batting for RCB and currently holding the Orange Cap with 379 runs in 8 matches. However, in T20Is for India, he typically bats at the No. 3 position.
With the T20 World Cup just a week away, the decision of Kohli’s batting position will be a key consideration for the Indian team’s management. Finch’s suggestion to have Kohli bat at No. 3 is based on his belief that the star player is at his best in that position and should continue to play there for the team’s success.
