Fire Breaks Out at Gardena Apartment Building, Injuring Firefighter and Four Civilians

A significant fire erupted in an apartment complex on South Vermont Avenue in Gardena, resulting in injuries to a firefighter and four civilians. At around 11:55 a.m. on Monday, the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of a burning apartment structure. The severity of the fire prompted an升级 to a second alarm just minutes later.

Video footage obtained by Sky5 showcased firefighters extinguishing the blaze from the roof of the apartment building. Extensive damage was visible to one of the balconies and the interior of an apartment unit.

A spokesperson for the fire department confirmed that a firefighter sustained burns and was transported to Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Furthermore, four civilians were also taken to a nearby hospital for undisclosed injuries.

As of 12:40 p.m., authorities had declared the fire under control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
