Fire Extinguished by Sprinklers in New Brighton Home

A small fire broke out in a New Brighton home on Tuesday morning, but was quickly extinguished by sprinklers before the FDNY arrived. According to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS, the fire was reported at 8:05 a.m. at 224 Richmond Terrace near Nicholas Street. A person with minor injuries was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton. The FDNY responded to the scene with 26 fire personnel and four units. A source with knowledge of the incident indicated that the fire may have been caused by lit candles. Fire marshals are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
