Five Household Cavalry Horses Escape in Central London, Injuring Multiple People

Five Household Cavalry horses escaped their riders during a morning exercise on Horseguards Parade, Whitehall, on April 24, 2024, leading to a chaotic incident in central London. The loose horses, including one with visible blood, were seen bolting through streets in Victoria, Aldwych, and even Tower Bridge.

According to reports, five people were injured at three different locations as a result of the incident. The ambulance service attended to horse-related injuries on Buckingham Palace Road, Belgrave Square, and the junction of Chancery Lane and Fleet Street. London Ambulance Service reported that their first paramedic arrived on the scene within five minutes after receiving the initial call at 8:25 am.

The Metropolitan Police and the army worked to locate the escaped horses. As of 10:30 am, two of the horses had been contained. However, the incident was still ongoing. The cause of the horses’ escape and the extent of the injuries suffered by the individuals involved are yet to be fully determined.
