Flash Flood Warning Issued for Parts of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties on Sunday afternoon. A summer storm was bringing heavy, sudden rain across the area, prompting the warning. The NWS tracked showers and thunderstorms moving across the region, warning that up to 1 to 1.75 inches of rain could fall per hour in northwestern Los Angeles County and north central Ventura County. The warning was issued at 3:29 p.m. and was set to expire by 9:30 p.m.

Several areas were considered particularly vulnerable to flash flooding, including Eastern Lockwood Valley, Alamo Mountain, Frazier Mountain, Gorman, the 5 Freeway over the Grapevine, and Pyramid Lake.

In addition to the flash flood warning, a heat advisory was also in effect for Southern California’s desert communities. These areas were expected to experience triple-digit temperatures. For up-to-date weather alerts for Southern California, visit the provided link.
