A shocking incident unfolded in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a Flipkart delivery agent was brutally murdered, allegedly for an iPhone. The deceased, identified as Bharat Kumar, was found stuffed in a gunny sack and dumped in a canal in Indira Nagar. The incident has sent shockwaves through the city, highlighting the growing insecurity faced by delivery personnel.
According to police reports, Bharat Kumar, a resident of Mahanagar, had been working as a delivery agent for the past eight years. On September 23, he left home to deliver an iPhone to a customer, Gajanan, who had opted for Cash on Delivery (COD). The delivery was worth ₹1.5 lakh.
However, instead of receiving his payment, Bharat Kumar met a tragic end. Gajanan, along with an accomplice, allegedly kidnapped and murdered him. They then disposed of his body in the Indira Canal after strangling him.
The crime came to light when Bharat Kumar failed to return home for two days. His brother, Prem Kumar, lodged a missing persons complaint at the Chinhat police station on September 25. The police, while investigating the case, found Gajanan’s phone number in Bharat Kumar’s call details.
Through Gajanan’s phone number, the police were able to track down his friend, Akash, who was subsequently arrested. During interrogation, Akash confessed to the murder, implicating himself and Gajanan.
The police have launched a full-scale investigation into the incident and are actively searching for Gajanan. Bharat Kumar’s family is seeking justice and demanding strict punishment for the accused. Prem Kumar, Bharat’s brother, stated, “My only demand is that the police should give such a punishment that serves as a lesson to them.”
This tragic case has raised serious concerns about the safety of delivery personnel and the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
