Florist Christie Leigh Corbally and Soho House’s global head of music, Dom Chung, had a love story that bloomed over a glass of chilled red wine. It all started with a DM during the pandemic, and their first date in May 2021 marked the beginning of a whirlwind romance.
Fast forward to a romantic proposal in Provence during a holiday to Marseille. Dom, ever the romantic, took Christie to L’Hotel Particular in Arles, a town known for its annual photo exhibitions. After a lovely dinner, he surprised her with a bottle of Champagne and popped the question. Their engagement, on August 31st, would later become the date of their wedding, a happy coincidence neither of them anticipated.
The couple, known for their quick and decisive nature, didn’t want to wait years to say “I do.” With London venues booked out for years, they turned their sights to Hampshire, where Dom grew up. The local church, a place with happy memories for Dom, became the perfect venue. They secured the first available date, eager to begin planning their dream wedding.
While Christie isn’t a traditional bride who dreamt of her wedding day from childhood, she knew she wanted a dress that felt both special and personal. She discovered Cecilie Bahnsen, a favorite designer, was hosting a London pop-up and decided to try on a few dresses. Falling in love with a spaghetti-strapped gown with a bow detail on the skirt, she went to Copenhagen for the final fitting and even met Cecilie, making the experience truly unforgettable.
The wedding day was a celebration of their unique love story, infused with their personal touches. Christie, naturally, brought her floral expertise to the forefront, creating beautiful arrangements with soft, pale, and beautifully scented roses, a departure from her usual floral choices. She incorporated cone-headed pink hydrangeas in the church, and the flower girls carried baby bouquets with scabiosa, while the groomsmen sported simple rose buttonholes.
The reception was held in a marquee outside the church grounds, where the band Flyte performed an acoustic set. The couple’s love of good food was evident in their menu, curated by their favorite pub, The Marksman. Guests enjoyed an exquisite spread of beef and barley buns, whipped cod’s roe, crudités, smoked meats, celeriac remoulade, followed by a chicken and girolle pie and Swiss chard and girolle tart, accompanied by roast potatoes and a watercress salad. The desserts, tiramisu and migliaccio, were paired with espresso martinis, a fitting end to a delicious feast.
Music played a significant role throughout the day. Christie walked down the aisle to a cover of Dionne Warwick’s “I’m Your Puppet,” sung by Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, a special request from Dom. Later, the couple danced the night away to a mix of Alexis Taylor and Lou Hayter DJ sets, punctuated by a tray of McDonald’s burgers and chips, a playful nod to their shared love of comfort food.
The wedding was a testament to their love, their shared passions, and their commitment to creating a day that reflected their unique personalities. As Christie said, “It was so beautiful, we were so happy to do a traditional church wedding and say our vows in front of our friends and loved ones.” The day was a celebration of love, music, and a shared journey that had just begun.
