The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) 2024 commenced on Saturday, with the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) administering the exam across 71 centers in 50 cities. The exam is conducted in two shifts – 9 am to 11.30 am and 2 pm to 4.30 pm, and is a crucial screening test for medical graduates seeking to practice medicine in India.
The FMGE 2024 exam has begun smoothly across the nation, with no untoward incidents reported as of yet. This statement comes after a nationwide uproar over the NEET UG 2024 exam, with concerns about irregularities and potential paper leaks.
In light of these concerns, the FMGE 2024 is being conducted under strict security measures. The Ministry of Home Affairs has deployed officials to closely monitor the examination process. The NBEMS headquarters in Delhi has set up a command center to oversee the exam, while 71 member teams from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) are visiting exam centers. Additionally, 42 NBEMS staff are stationed at the centers, where 35,819 candidates are giving the exam under tight security and close supervision.
To prevent any irregularities, 255 appraisers and 53 faculty members have been appointed as flying squads for all centers. Live CCTV feeds actively monitor each test center, with TCS ground teams addressing operational and logistical issues onsite.
“The content was successfully downloaded at all test centers. The examination started at all examination centers smoothly. A team of officers from MHA has visited NBEMS HQ. No untoward incident has been reported,” NDTV reported, quoting an official as saying.
The official account of Akashvani news services division, All India Radio News, on social media platform X stated, “National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences is conducting FMGE today. The examination is being held at 71 centres in 50 cities across the country.”
