Food Safety Violations Abound at Popular Hyderabad Eateries

The Commissioner of Food Safety for Telangana has conducted inspections at Moazzam Jahi Market and Himayatnagar area, uncovering multiple violations at several food establishments.

Expired Products and Improper Labeling

Karachi Bakery was found to have expired stocks of rusks, biscuits, candy, chocolate cakes, toasts, and buns, totaling 5,200. Additionally, use-by dates were not displayed on pastries and cakes, violating FSSAI regulations. Unlabeled products were also found.

Unsanitary Conditions

At Clove Vegetarian Fine Dine, expired products such as cheese, syrup, ATC spices, sandwich bread, and brown sugar were confiscated and discarded. Live cockroaches were discovered in the ice cream storage unit, and carrots showed signs of fungal infestation. Cooked vegetable biryani was found stored in unsanitary conditions, including stagnant drainage. Unlabeled chana dal was also found, and samples were taken for further examination.

Enforcement Actions

At Bilal Ice Cream, the outlet and manufacturing unit were found to be operating without valid licenses. Fake brand water bottles were also found. Notices have been issued, and action will be taken.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has established regulations to ensure food safety, including requirements for food labeling and packaging, food safety standards, and hygiene and safety practices throughout the supply chain. Compliance with these regulations is crucial to protect consumer health.
