Former India Pacer David Johnson Passes Away at 52

Former Indian fast bowler David Johnson passed away in Bengaluru on Thursday at the age of 52. He is remembered for his impressive pace and performances in domestic cricket, which ultimately led to his selection for the Indian national team.

Johnson played in two Test matches for India in 1996, claiming a total of three wickets. His domestic career was more prolific, spanning 39 First-Class matches where he took an impressive 125 wickets. His bowling prowess is highlighted by four five-wicket hauls and a remarkable ten-wicket haul.

One of his most notable achievements was his performance in the 1995-96 Ranji Trophy season where he took a staggering 10 for 152 against Kerala, showcasing his exceptional bowling abilities. This performance propelled him into the Indian team, marking the beginning of his international career.
