Former Medical College Principal Accused of Obstructing Rape-Murder Investigation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has accused former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandip Ghosh of deliberately delaying the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) following the tragic rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor. The probe agency alleges that Ghosh’s actions were an attempt to obstruct the investigation.

During a polygraph test, Ghosh reportedly provided deceptive answers to crucial questions, further raising suspicions about his involvement. According to the CBI’s remand letter, Ghosh, even after consulting with an advocate, intentionally avoided registering an FIR. Despite receiving information about the incident at 9:58 am on August 9th, he did not immediately reach the hospital. Instead of filing a murder complaint, he allowed the vice-principal to submit a report that speculated the doctor’s death as a suicide.

The CBI’s investigation has led to the arrest of both Ghosh and the officer-in-charge of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal, in connection with the rape-murder case. The agency believes their actions were a deliberate attempt to hinder the investigation and potentially conceal evidence. This incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice for the victim and her family. The CBI’s ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the alleged cover-up and ensure that all those responsible are held accountable.
