A former MLA’s wife was killed in a bomb blast in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, officials said on Sunday. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when a bomb exploded at a house adjacent to the residence of former Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip. Sapam Charubala, Haokip’s second wife, was injured in the blast and rushed to a health facility in Saikul. However, she later succumbed to her injuries. Haokip was also present in his house when the blast took place but escaped uninjured. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter to determine the cause of the blast and identify the perpetrators.
