The shocking murder of former NCP leader and three-time MLA, Baba Siddique, has sent shockwaves through Mumbai. Siddique was shot dead on Saturday by three assailants in the Bandra area, outside his son’s office. While Mumbai Police have apprehended two suspects, one of them, a 19-year-old named Shiva, remains on the run.
According to Shiva’s mother, she last saw him during Holi when he returned home after working in a scrapyard in Pune. She expressed her ignorance about his activities in Mumbai and lack of communication with him since then. Similarly, the mother of another accused, Dharamraj Kashyap, also confirmed her son’s involvement in a scrapyard in Pune, stating he had not been in contact with them for the past two months.
The assailants, who claimed to be part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, opened fire at Siddique during a Durga Visarjan procession, using a 9.9-millimeter pistol recovered by the police. Siddique was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Siddique’s murder is ongoing, with police pursuing multiple motives and angles. Siddique was well-known in Bollywood circles and had been instrumental in providing life-saving medicines to patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. The incident has shaken the city, highlighting the need for stringent security measures and effective crime prevention strategies. The police are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of the public.
