Former Shiv Sena MP Threatens Legal Action Over Unfulfilled Governor Promise

Former Shiv Sena MP Anandrao Adsul has accused the BJP of failing to uphold its commitments, alleging that he was promised a gubernatorial post and is now threatening legal action. Adsul claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah promised him the position in writing, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.

He further stated that the BJP had promised the Shinde-led Shiv Sena two Union cabinet posts and two governor’s positions before the Lok Sabha elections. However, Adsul claimed that despite a letter signed by Shinde and Fadnavis recommending his name for governorship being sent to the Centre, his name was absent from the recent list of nine new governors appointed by the government.

Adsul’s discontent stems from the BJP’s perceived failure to fulfill its promises made to the Shiv Sena. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the party receiving only one Union Minister of State (MoS) berth, contrary to the initial agreement. He also highlighted the absence of any senior Shiv Sena functionary among the newly appointed governors, including the appointment of BJP leader Haribhau Bagade as the Governor of Rajasthan.

Adsul declared his intention to seek legal recourse, stating that he cannot wait indefinitely for the promised position. He plans to file a curative petition in the Supreme Court challenging the stay granted in the case related to former BJP MP Navneet Rana’s caste certificate. This move appears to be a direct response to the BJP’s perceived breach of their agreement and a means to pressure them into fulfilling their promises.

Adsul’s accusations and his threatened legal action have added another layer of complexity to the already strained relationship between the BJP and the Shiv Sena. It remains to be seen how the BJP will respond to Adsul’s allegations and whether they will ultimately appoint him as a governor as promised.
