Former Washington Police Officer Found with Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound, Son Safe

Authorities in Oregon have located a former Washington police officer, Elias Huizar, who was wanted in connection with two killings. Huizar was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but his current condition remains unknown. His 1-year-old son, who was believed to be with him, was found safe and has been taken into protective custody.

Huizar was the subject of an Amber Alert that was issued on Monday night. He was suspected of killing his ex-wife and another woman, identified as his girlfriend, in West Richland, Washington. Authorities believed he was fleeing to Mexico with his young son.

Oregon State Police located Huizar driving south on Interstate 5 near Eugene and initiated a pursuit. During the chase, Huizar was found shot in the head. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.

The investigation into the killings in Washington is ongoing. Authorities have not released any further information about the case or the motive behind the alleged crimes.
