Forming Alliances in Sea of Thieves: A Guide to Collaboration and Rewards

Forming Alliances: A Collaborative Strategy in Sea of Thieves

Alliances in Sea of Thieves transcend mere in-game mechanics; they reflect the spirit of genuine pirate partnerships. Unlike other games where party invitations suffice, alliances in Sea of Thieves involve a more immersive and interactive process.

How to Forge an Alliance

To initiate an alliance, approach a desired vessel and ascend to your crow’s nest. Interact with the flag box and navigate to the Alliances tab. Display the Offer Alliance flag, signaling your intent to collaborate. If the other ship reciprocates by hoisting the same flag, you can proceed to change your flag to the Join Alliance emblem, solidifying the alliance. An unlimited number of ships can join forces in a single alliance during a session.

Dissolving an Alliance

Ending an alliance is a straightforward process. Revisit the flag box, select the Leave Alliance flag, and you will revert to solo pirate status. Alliances also dissolve automatically when members exit the game.

Benefits of an Alliance

The advantages of forming alliances are multifaceted. Firstly, allied ships become visible on your Map Table, and vice versa. Allied crew names are distinguished by a distinctive purple color for easy identification.

Furthermore, voyages placed on your Voyage Table are simultaneously displayed on the tables of alliance members. Treasures discovered through Riddle or X Marks the Spot Maps held by alliance members are also accessible to all.

The most significant benefit, however, lies in shared rewards. Treasure sales yield full value for the selling ship, while allied players receive 50% of the value. Exemptions include Broken Emissary Flags and Reaper’s Chests, which remain exclusive to the acquiring ship.

Lastly, alliance members can revive fallen comrades on their respective vessels. It is important to note that alliances do not prevent members from attacking or killing one another. Trust should not be assumed simply because an alliance exists.

By embracing alliances, pirate crews in Sea of Thieves unlock enhanced coordination, shared rewards, and a more immersive multiplayer experience.
