Get ready for a significant change in Fortnite, as Epic Games introduces new settings designed to curb the use of confrontational emotes. This update, released on Tuesday, grants players greater control over the emotes they encounter, empowering them to mute animations deemed inappropriate or confrontational.
To address concerns about unsportsmanlike behavior, players can now choose to mute the following emotes: Laugh It Up, Take the L, Whipcrack, and Make It Plantain. These emotes have been identified as particularly aggressive victory celebrations, often used to taunt or provoke opponents.
When these emotes are muted, players will no longer witness the animation or hear the accompanying sound effects. Instead, they will observe a player standing still in silence. This adjustment aims to minimize the potential for toxic behavior and create a more positive gaming environment.
Fortnite players may access these new settings by navigating to the “Social Privacy” section of the settings menu. Under the “See Confrontational Emotes” setting, they can toggle the visibility of these emotes for both strangers and friends. By default, these emotes will be muted for strangers but remain active for friends. However, players have the flexibility to adjust these settings based on their preferences.
With the implementation of these new settings, Epic Games seeks to address concerns about bullying and promote a more respectful gaming experience in Fortnite. By empowering players to control the content they encounter, the developer aims to create a more inclusive and enjoyable environment for all players.
