In the latest Fortnite update (v29.30), Epic Games has introduced a new option that allows players to disable specific emotes that may be considered aggressive or confrontational. This move is in response to feedback from players who have expressed concerns about the potential for toxicity in online interactions.
The emotes that can be disabled include Laugh It Up, Take the L, Whipcrack, and Make It Plantain. However, Epic Games has stated that it may add or remove emotes from this list in the future.
To activate the new option, players can go to the Social Privacy section of the settings menu. They can choose to disable aggressive emotes completely or only see them if they are performed by friends in their party.
This new feature comes alongside several other significant announcements from Epic Games, including plans for the Fortnite Festival, the addition of Star Wars to Lego Fortnite, and collaborations with movie franchises such as Mad Max, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Marvel for the Battle Royale mode.
It is worth noting that Nintendo had initially planned to include Samus Aran from the Metroid series in Fortnite as part of the Gaming Legends Series in 2020. However, the company ultimately decided against it, expressing concerns about its characters appearing on other platforms and requesting that Epic Games limit the skin to the Nintendo Switch version. Epic Games declined this request, insisting that all versions of Fortnite should have the same content.
