Playground Games, the Xbox-owned developer behind the popular racing game Forza Horizon 4, has announced that the game will be delisted online on December 15th. This decision stems from “licensing and agreements with our partners,” according to a blog post from the studio. Starting on Tuesday, all DLC for the game will be delisted, including the car DLC packs. While the base game editions are still available for purchase, they will be removed from Steam, the Xbox Store, and Xbox Game Pass on December 15th. Players who own the game can still play it after the delisting, but they will no longer be able to purchase any new content. Playground reassures players that online and multiplayer modes will continue to function even after the delisting. However, the upcoming Series 77, launching on July 25th, will be the last for the game. This series will also feature the last Festival Playlist until August 22nd. Although players can still access daily and weekly quests in Forza Events, Series 77 presents the final opportunity to earn achievements tied to the playlist. To commemorate Forza Horizon 4’s departure, Playground is offering discounts. A Steam sale is currently underway, with the Ultimate edition available for just $20. Additionally, an Xbox Store sale will commence on July 14th. With summer game deals season in full swing, players can expect additional opportunities to acquire the game at a reduced price. Forza Horizon 4 has been overshadowed by its successor, Forza Horizon 5, which continues to receive frequent updates, and the recently released Forza Motorsport. Despite this, Forza Horizon 4 still boasts a sizable player base. According to SteamDB, a third-party app that tracks player activity on Steam, the game had nearly 4,000 concurrent players at the time of writing. Reddit users have already begun reporting that the DLC packs are no longer available, noting the absence of any prior warning before their removal.
