Four individuals, including two police personnel, have been booked in connection with the alleged suicide of a man who was reportedly intimidated and beaten at a police outpost over a dispute regarding the model of a motorcycle as dowry. The deceased, Anoop Kumar (21), was scheduled to be married on Friday when a disagreement arose with the bride’s father over the specific motorcycle model he demanded as part of the dowry. In response to the dispute, the parties were called to the Dhanuhi police outpost on Saturday. Kumar returned home that night in a distressed state and allegedly ended his life. Authorities have registered a case against the outpost’s in-charge, a constable, the bride’s father, and another relative in connection with Kumar’s death. The incident has sparked concerns over dowry-related violence and the role of police in such cases. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Kumar’s alleged suicide and the extent of the involvement of the accused individuals.
