Four Trekkers Die in Uttarakhand Due to Extreme Weather
Four trekkers from Karnataka have tragically died due to extreme weather conditions in Uttarakhand. The group, organized by the Himalayan View Trekking Agency, embarked on a 35-kilometer trek from Uttarkashi on May 29. It comprised 18 trekkers from Karnataka, one from Maharashtra, and three local guides.
As the group returned to their camp, the weather abruptly worsened at 2 pm, resulting in a blizzard that left them stranded. A joint air-ground operation was swiftly initiated by the Indian Air Force, National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and other local authorities to rescue the stranded trekkers.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been disclosed, and the District Magistrate of Garhwal is closely monitoring the rescue operation. Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has traveled to Dehradun to oversee and coordinate the efforts.
