Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: Celebrations Begin in Maharashtra with Political Leaders and Bollywood Stars Joining in

The vibrant festival of Ganesh Chaturthi commenced in Maharashtra on September 7, 2024, marking the beginning of a ten-day celebration. The state, known for its grand Ganesh Utsav, witnessed a confluence of political leaders, Bollywood stars, and devout devotees participating in the festivities.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, along with his son Aaditya Thackeray, paid their respects at Mumbai’s renowned Lalbaugcha Raja. The Thackeray family, accompanied by Rashmi Thackeray, navigated through the massive crowds to reach the stage where the idol was placed. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde offered prayers at his residence, extending his best wishes to the people of Maharashtra on the occasion.

Visuals from the home of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis showcased his own Ganpati Puja, highlighting the widespread participation of political figures in the festivities.

Mumbai’s oldest and most famous Ganpati pandal, Lalbaugcha Raja, witnessed an overwhelming influx of devotees on Saturday, seeking blessings from the revered deity. Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan was also spotted at the pandal earlier that day, adding to the celebrity presence at the celebrations.

Beyond Lalbaugcha Raja, other prominent Ganpati pandals in Mumbai, including Khetwadicha Ganraj, Ganesh Galli Mumbaicha Raja, Andhericha Raja, and Chinchpoklicha Chintamani, also attracted large crowds. The first glimpse of Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja was unveiled on September 5, 2024, showcasing the deity seated majestically on a throne adorned with a magnificent 20-kg gold crown. The crown, a gift from Anant Ambani and Reliance Foundation, took over two months to craft.

The celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, has extended beyond Maharashtra’s borders. Delhi, too, will host its own version of Lalbaugcha Raja in Burari, further demonstrating the widespread reverence for the festival. The festival will conclude on September 16, 2024, after ten days of joyous celebrations and devotional fervor.
