The Garden State was well represented in both the discus and shot put at the national meet on Friday morning, with two New Jersey athletes finishing with Top American honors. In the discus, Bergen Catholic’s Ben Shue finished second overall in the standings, also earning a watch for being the top finisher from the U.S. in the event. Shue posted a 192-6 to make his way into the finals, finishing with a 201-11 on his fifth throw. Unfortunately, there was no mention of the shot put results or any other New Jersey athletes who may have competed in that event.
