General Dynamics Mission Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, has secured a significant $491.6 million contract from the Space Development Agency (SDA) to spearhead the design, analysis, and engineering of an integrated ground system for their Ground Management and Integration (GMI) program. This award represents a continuation of General Dynamics’ work with SDA, building upon the successful completion of the Tranche 1 Operations and Integration contract. The company, in collaboration with their partner Iridium, will leverage its expertise to deliver a fully functional integrated ground system for SDA’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), supporting the development of future Tranche 2 capabilities.
This contract signifies a pivotal step in the evolution of SDA’s PWSA, a network of interconnected satellites designed to bolster the capabilities of the joint warfighter community. General Dynamics’ role will be crucial in ensuring the seamless integration and operation of these space-based assets.
The company will work closely with SDA and key stakeholders to develop a Tranche-agnostic ground system for PWSA, guaranteeing its compatibility with future tranches of the program. Additionally, General Dynamics will assume responsibility for enterprise integration of the Tranche 2 constellation.
The scope of work under this contract encompasses the provision of all services necessary for the evolution, expansion, integration, testing, and maintenance of the ground entry points, operations centers, enterprise test and checkout capabilities, and infrastructure management. This includes the development, systems engineering, integration, testing, maintenance, and site support required for these critical components.
