Geneva Winery Expands with New Batavia Location
Geneva Winery is thrilled to announce the opening of its newest location in Batavia, further expanding its presence in the Fox Valley area. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facility at 5 N. River St. was held on Thursday, with a grand opening event taking place on Saturday.
This new addition complements the original Geneva Winery and Tasting Room, which has been a popular destination since its opening in 2020. It also joins the Geneva Winery Bistro and Wine Bar, established in 2023. With a fourth location in the works in Elburn, featuring a 6½-acre farm and vineyard, Geneva Winery has grown rapidly despite its pandemic-era launch.
Owner Brent Copstead, who initially started his winemaking journey out of curiosity, credits the winery’s success to its focus on community and local sourcing. A significant portion of the wines offered at Geneva Winery, approximately 90%, are produced right in Geneva, showcasing the region’s terroir.
The Batavia location offers a full banquet room for special events and ample indoor seating, a valuable addition during the colder months. Assistant manager Simon Foster believes the winery’s welcoming atmosphere will translate well to Batavia, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity.
Margaret Perreault, president and CEO of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce, expressed excitement about the winery’s arrival. She sees it as a welcome addition to the city’s vibrant downtown area and a catalyst for further development.
Copstead emphasizes the importance of being ingrained in the local community. He believes that Geneva Winery serves as a gathering place where locals can socialize and enjoy a glass of handcrafted wine. The Batavia location will continue this tradition, offering a space for residents and visitors to connect and celebrate.
