Gentari to Power AMG Ammonia’s Green Ammonia Plants with 2.4 GW Renewable Energy Project

Gentari to Power AMG Ammonia’s Green Ammonia Plants with India’s Largest Green Energy Project

In a landmark agreement that sets a new benchmark for renewable energy supply in India, Gentari, a leading clean energy solutions provider, and AM Green Ammonia India Private Limited (“AMG Ammonia”) have joined forces. This collaboration will see Gentari deliver a substantial 650 MW of 24/7 carbon-free energy to power AMG Ammonia’s upcoming green ammonia production facilities. This is secured through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), representing a major leap forward in the global transition to sustainable energy.

A Gigawatt-Scale Renewable Energy Powerhouse

To fulfill this ambitious commitment, Gentari will undertake the construction of an approximately 2,400 MWp renewable energy capacity project in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, India. This massive undertaking will be integrated with a substantial 350 MW/2,100 MWh energy storage system, ensuring a reliable and dispatchable supply of green power to AMG Ammonia’s facilities. The scale of this project makes it Gentari’s largest new-field project globally.

Meeting Stringent Green Standards

This agreement stands out for its stringent energy supply terms. It meets the rigorous demands of a green ammonia plant, ensuring consistent, hourly, and yearly Carbon-free energy supply. This groundbreaking aspect paves the way for future carbon-free power supply contracts, establishing a new standard for the industry. Furthermore, the energy supply adheres to the strict specifications defined under the Renewable Non-Biological Fuels of Origin (RNFBO) framework, enabling AMG Ammonia to access European and global markets efficiently.

A Giant Leap for Green Hydrogen and Ammonia

AMG Ammonia is developing one of the world’s largest green ammonia platforms, aiming for a staggering 5 million tons per annum (MTPA) production capacity by 2030. This ambitious goal significantly contributes to India’s and OECD markets’ net-zero emission targets. This production will be equivalent to approximately 1 MTPA of green hydrogen, representing a significant portion of India’s green hydrogen production target under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and a substantial contribution to Europe’s green hydrogen import goals.

Strategic Partnerships and Global Reach

Gentari is not only supplying the energy but is also actively developing supply chains to connect green molecules with global demand centers. They are expanding downstream solutions, including innovations in transport and logistics, to ensure efficient delivery to international markets. This proactive approach underlines their commitment to a holistic approach to sustainable energy.

Statements from Key Players

Navjit Gill, Gentari’s Country Head in India, expressed his excitement about the partnership, highlighting its potential to accelerate renewable asset development in India. Mahesh Kolli, Founder of Greenko Group and AM Green, emphasized AM Green’s commitment to India’s green energy export ambitions and the expectation of further collaborations with Gentari.

About AMG Ammonia and Gentari

AMG Ammonia, a joint venture between AM Green, Gentari, GIC, and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), has secured the Final Investment Decision (FID) for its first million-ton green ammonia project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. Gentari, focused on delivering clean energy solutions, is committed to becoming a leading renewable energy developer and a key player in the green hydrogen and sustainable mobility sectors.

This collaboration between Gentari and AMG Ammonia showcases a significant advancement in India’s renewable energy sector and global efforts toward decarbonization. The project’s scale, its commitment to meeting stringent green standards, and the integrated approach to the entire green energy value chain are setting a new standard for future sustainable energy projects globally.
