Geothermal Love Song Aims to Heat Up Climate Action

Project InnerSpace has released a unique and upbeat geothermal anthem, “(Our Love is) Geothermal,” hoping to spark a love affair with clean energy. This rock ballad, featuring musician Mike Roberts and singer Will Hammond Jr., tells a story of a team of drillers embarking on a journey to the Earth’s core to win over a reluctant steam goddess. Their ultimate goal? To bring geothermal energy to the world.

This whimsical approach aims to bridge the gap between often-siloed groups involved in the push for geothermal energy. The song’s lightheartedness makes a complex issue more accessible and appealing to a broader audience, encouraging a unified front for a clean energy future.

Jamie Beard, Executive Director of Project InnerSpace, emphasizes the importance of finding common ground: “Let’s have fun and celebrate that opportunity together. Because maybe if we can laugh together, we can solve problems together, too.”

Songwriter Mike Roberts sees the fight against climate change as a shared responsibility, using his musical talents to make climate solutions relatable and enjoyable. “I believe the climate emergency is an all-hands-on-deck situation,” says Roberts.

Will Hammond Jr. recognizes the power of art to educate and inspire: “By entertaining and educating simultaneously, I hope to bridge the gap between awareness and action, inspiring audiences to engage in the fight for a sustainable future.”

This is the second collaboration between Roberts and Hammond, following the release of “(I’m Your) Heat Pump” in April, which focused on promoting efficient home energy solutions. Both songs demonstrate the power of music to bring complex climate solutions into the mainstream, making them relatable and even enjoyable.

“(Our Love is) Geothermal” made its live debut on September 24 at Geothermal House, a fully immersive experience designed to showcase the promise of geothermal energy and gather experts, investors, and philanthropists working to combat climate change. The song, and the events surrounding its release, highlight the growing interest in geothermal energy as a clean and sustainable energy source.
