The arrival of the inaugural ITA Airways flight from Rome Fiumicino to Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana, marked a significant milestone in the country’s aviation industry. The aircraft, an Airbus A321neo, was welcomed with a ceremonial water arch. The inaugural flight departed Accra Airport for Rome Fiumicino on the evening of 7th July at 11:45 p.m. local time, marking the commencement of this new intercontinental route and establishing ITA Airways’ first destination in sub-Saharan Africa.
To commemorate this momentous occasion, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at arrival gate C8 in Terminal 3 of Accra Airport.
