Giants’ Webb Extends Scoreless Streak, Leads San Francisco to 5-1 Win over Mets

Logan Webb Continues Dominance, Giants Blank Mets 5-1

Logan Webb turned in another stellar performance on the mound for the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night, leading them to a 5-1 victory over the New York Mets. Webb extended his scoreless innings streak to 19 as he pitched eight strong innings, allowing just six hits and four strikeouts while issuing a single walk.

The 27-year-old right-hander relied heavily on his groundball-inducing arsenal, registering 15 groundball outs throughout his outing. Webb’s dominance kept the potent Mets offense at bay, showcasing his exceptional control and command.

The Giants’ offense provided timely support, with Mike Yastrzemski playing a pivotal role. Yastrzemski’s two-run single in the fifth inning broke the scoreless stalemate and put San Francisco ahead for good. He finished the night with three RBIs, including a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.

Thairo Estrada also contributed offensively with two hits, including a go-ahead RBI single in the fifth inning. Michael Conforto and LaMonte Wade Jr. added insurance runs with an RBI single and an RBI double, respectively, in the seventh inning.

The Mets’ offense struggled to keep pace, mustering just five hits off Webb. Starling Marte accounted for three of those hits, but the Mets were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. New York starter Luis Severino allowed three runs on five hits over six innings, taking the loss.

With the victory, the Giants improved their record to 8-0 when scoring at least five runs. The Mets, on the other hand, dropped their third straight game after a six-game winning streak.

In other news, the Mets placed catcher Francisco Alvarez on the injured list with a sprained left thumb, sidelining him for approximately eight weeks. Veteran slugger J.D. Martinez, who recently signed a one-year contract with New York, made his Triple-A debut for Syracuse and went 1 for 4 with an RBI single.

The two teams will conclude their series on Wednesday with Sean Manaea taking the mound for the Mets and Blake Snell starting for the Giants.
