In a refreshing twist, Gigi Hadid has taken center stage at the spring/summer 2025 shows, eclipsing the usual spotlight on her younger sister Bella. While Bella continues to explore different avenues, Gigi has been a busy bee, launching a new collection, celebrating her daughter’s birthday, and even trying to decipher the identity of a mysterious bearded gentleman at a recent fashion event.
But Gigi’s return to the runway was inevitable. Donatella Versace, the creative force behind the iconic Italian house, persuaded the 29-year-old model to grace the catwalk for Versace’s spring/summer 2025 show at Sforzesco Castle in Milan. Joining Gigi on the catwalk were fellow new-gen supers Vittoria Ceretti and Mona Tougaard, adding a distinct ’70s vibe to the collection. The show also featured an unexpected front-row guest: Channing Tatum, looking dapper and solo, adding a touch of Hollywood glamour.
Gigi’s relationship with Versace stretches back to autumn/winter 2016, a collection that Vogue hailed as a return to the “sexiness” of the brand. “I love mixing the cool girls with the reality girls,” Donatella explained, referencing her then-surprising decision to cast Gigi and Kendall Jenner, who was just out of her teens at the time, in the show. “It’s about a woman’s power – for every kind of woman!”
This latest collaboration is a testament to the enduring relationship between Gigi and Versace. From her runway return after maternity leave in a 3D maze constructed for Donatella’s “inaugural digital showcase” in spring/summer 2021 to her starring role in Versace’s takeover of LA’s Pacific Design Center for autumn/winter 2023, Gigi has consistently been a Versace muse, embodying Donatella’s vision of fashion as an empowering force for women. It’s clear that, despite her many ventures, Gigi remains deeply connected to the world of fashion, and Versace remains a core part of her journey. And with Donatella by her side, the future looks bright and full of stylish collaborations.
