The richness of embroidery and details adorned with countless pearls of all sizes was so captivating that, for the first time in my career, I could actually hear the runway. The atmosphere, as Mr. Armani intended in the Giorgio Armani show, was serene and intimate. Structured velvet dresses with crystal trim contrasted beautifully with lace shirts or shimmering knitwear, evoking the productions of festive events with a 1920s flair, à la Gatsby – as extravagant as they were chic. There was no need for explanation, as the release provided, of how the collection was “deeply Armanian”: it was evident. Thank you, Mr. Armani, who, on the verge of turning 90, still manages to make us dream with such sensitivity.
