Girona finally secured their first La Liga win of the season, dismantling Osasuna with a resounding 4-0 victory on Thursday. After a disappointing start that saw them draw at Real Betis and suffer a heavy 3-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid, Girona showcased a dominant performance against Osasuna, fueled by an inspired display from Bryan Gil.
Gil, who arrived on loan from Tottenham in July, was a constant threat throughout the match. He had an early shot blocked by the goalkeeper in the 22nd minute but finally broke the deadlock in the 34th minute with a spectacular acrobatic volley.
Girona continued their onslaught, extending their lead in the 53rd minute when Viktor Tsygankov capitalised on a defensive error by Lucas Torro to calmly finish inside the box. Just three minutes later, Abel Ruiz added a third with a powerful shot that flew into the top corner.
The victory was sealed in added time when substitute Cristhian Stuani tapped in the fourth goal, converting a cross from Donny van de Beek.
This comprehensive win propelled Girona to seventh place in the La Liga table with four points from their first three games. The team will be hoping to build on this momentum as they look to establish themselves as a force in the league this season.
