The Global Hotel Alliance (GHA), the world’s largest alliance of independent hotel brands, has celebrated the achievements of its members with the announcement of the 2024 award winners. The ceremony, held at the historic Kanda Myojin Shrine in Tokyo, recognized over 20 hotel brands and properties from the GHA portfolio.
Minor Hotels was a prominent recipient, receiving three awards. Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort was named Hotel of the Year, while NH Hotels & Resorts took home the Best Cross-Brand Contribution award. Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International, was also honored with the Exceptional Contribution Award.
GHA also marked the 15-year membership of Anantara Hotels & Resorts and Tivoli Hotels & Resorts within the alliance. The awards ceremony showcased the strength and diversity of the GHA network, highlighting hotels from the Green Collection and the Ultratravel Collection.
Each award category was highly competitive, with at least four nominations from GHA’s more than 800 hotels across 100 countries, representing 40 brands. The winners were selected based on multiple criteria, demonstrating their dedication to innovation and excellence.
GHA CEO Chris Hartley expressed his congratulations to all the winners, emphasizing their remarkable contributions to the success of GHA DISCOVERY, the alliance’s award-winning loyalty program. The awards coincided with GHA’s annual CEO meeting, held in Japan for the first time. The event brought together CEOs from over 40 GHA hotel brands, including Dillip Rajakarier of Minor Hotels.
During the meeting, GHA DISCOVERY, in collaboration with Interbrand Japan, shared insights into the preferences and behaviors of Japanese travelers. Launched in 2010 and reimagined in 2021, GHA DISCOVERY now boasts 27 million members worldwide, generating $2.3 billion in revenue and 10 million room nights as of 2023. The awards ceremony and CEO meeting served as a testament to the continuous growth and success of the GHA network.
