Goa Unveils Innovative Sustainable Tourism Initiatives at ATM Dubai 2024
Goa, India, renowned for its captivating beaches and vibrant heritage, is gearing up to make a significant impact at the upcoming Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Dubai 2024. From May 6th to May 9th, 2024, the Goa Tourism Pavilion will showcase the region’s commitment to sustainable tourism under the theme: Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Transforming Travel Through Entrepreneurship.
The pavilion will spotlight Regenerative Tourism, a transformative approach that goes beyond conservation to actively restore natural and cultural assets while enhancing local community well-being. The exhibit will highlight Goa’s efforts to explore its hinterlands, preserve heritage sites, and promote spiritual tourism through engaging displays and virtual experiences.
Visitors can delve into the Ekadasha Teertha circuit, a pilgrimage route encompassing 11 revered temples, and learn about the upcoming exposition of St. Francis Xavier’s relics at the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa. The Ekadasha Teertha circuit offers a spiritual journey through Goa’s sacred sites, steeped in history, mythology, and devotion.
Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director Tourism & Managing Director GTDC, emphasized the significance of the Goa Tourism pavilion, stating, “The pavilion will reflect Goa’s traditional and historical significance, showcasing our rich cultural heritage through Regenerative Tourism. We will have approximately 17 co-exhibitors, including tour and travel operators, wedding planners, and MICE representatives. Our focus is to promote MICE tourism, formulate a Wedding in Goa policy, and attract high-spending tourists from GCC countries.”
The pavilion will also showcase the upcoming exposition of St. Francis Xavier’s relics, a major spiritual event expected to draw numerous devotees from November 21st, 2024, to January 5th, 2025.
The Goa Tourism Pavilion will be represented by notable figures such as the Honorable Minister of Tourism, Mr. Rohan A. Khaunte, and other key officials, along with partners from the tourism, hospitality, and wedding planning industries. Goa’s leadership in launching Regenerative Tourism will be evident in the pavilion’s emphasis on sustainable and responsible tourism practices, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between tourism and the environment.
