As the peak tourist season in Goa approaches, the state is buzzing with excitement and preparations. Beaches, shacks, restaurants, and hotels are all ready to welcome both domestic and international tourists. This year, the arrival of foreign tourists has started earlier than usual. Two chartered flights from Russia, carrying over 500 passengers, landed in Goa on Wednesday, signaling the beginning of the international tourist season. The Goa Tourism Department extended a warm welcome to the visitors at the Manohar International Airport in Mopa.
The arrival of these chartered flights coincides with the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from the state, paving the way for a sunny and enjoyable tourist season. According to news agency PTI, a flight from Moscow with 349 passengers landed at 9 am on Wednesday, followed by a flight from Yekaterinburg, Russia, with 210 passengers.
Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte expressed his enthusiasm for the early arrivals, highlighting the fact that beach shacks are set up well in advance of the tourist season, a departure from previous years. He emphasized that Goa has always been a favorite destination for tourists and is expected to witness over 1 crore visitors this season.
While Goa is renowned for its beautiful beaches, the tourism department is actively promoting its hinterland through a regenerative tourism campaign. Minister Khaunte explained that tourists, including international travelers, are increasingly interested in exploring the greener side of Goa, beyond the sun-kissed shores.
To enhance the tourism experience in Goa, Manohar International Airport (GOX) recently launched the GOX Pass, an exclusive passenger privilege program. This program offers discounts of up to 50% at over 34 partner outlets across the state, covering a wide range of leisure, shopping, dining, and wellness experiences. The airport stated in a press release, “This innovative initiative promises discounts of up to 50 per cent on a diverse range of leisure, shopping, dining and wellness experiences across Goa.”
As Goa gears up for a vibrant tourist season, the state is showcasing its diverse offerings and welcoming tourists with open arms, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone.
