The latest beta version of the Google app for Android phones now includes a dedicated “Notifications” feed in its bottom bar. This feature allows users to conveniently access and manage alerts from various Google services, including Google Search, weather conditions, flight information, sports scores, movies, and TV shows.
The Notifications section displays a continuous list of alerts, categorized under “Today” and “Earlier.” By tapping on a notification, users are directed to a page related to the search term. The overflow menu provides options for deleting items and instructing Google to stop sending notifications with similar terms.
The Notifications feature offers several advantages. It provides a more focused view of alerts compared to the system-level history, making it easier to find and access relevant information. It also allows users to quickly delete notifications and customize their notification preferences.
Currently, the Notifications feed is only available in the latest beta version of the Google app (version 15.20). Users who are not already enrolled in the beta can sign up for free to gain access to this feature.
Google has not yet announced when the Notifications page will be rolled out to users not on the beta version. However, given the usefulness of the feature, it is likely to be made available to all users in the near future.
