Google Doodle Celebrates India’s Fourth Phase of Lok Sabha Elections

Today’s Google Doodle is a celebration of India’s fourth phase of Lok Sabha Elections, a festival of democracy symbolized by an index finger marked with ink. This phase of the election marks the commencement of voting in 96 Parliamentary Constituencies spread across 9 States and one Union Territory. Additionally, all 175 seats of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly and 28 seats of Odisha will also undergo polling today, with a total of 1,717 candidates vying for electoral success. The Google Doodle will be visible only to people living in India and is part of a series of doodles commemorating each phase of the General Elections, with similar inked finger icons featuring in previous phases held on April 19, April 26, and May 7. Among the key contestants in this phase are Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM, Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of West Bengal Congress, Mahua Moitra of TMC, Giriraj Singh of BJP, Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh) of JDU, Shatrughan Sinha and Yusuf Pathan of TMC, Arjun Munda and Madhavi Latha of BJP, and YS Sharmila of Andhra Pradesh Congress. Prominent Lok Sabha seats witnessing polling today include Baharampur, Hyderabad, Krishnanagar, Begusarai, Munger, Srinagar, Asansol, Kannauj, Kadapa, and Khunti. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to actively participate in the electoral process, stating, ‘In today’s 4th Phase of the Lok Sabha elections, 96 seats across 10 States and UTs are going to the polls. I am sure people in these constituencies will vote in large numbers and the young voters as well as women voters will power this surge in voting. Come, let’s all do our duty and strengthen our democracy!’
